Canada's Innovation and Skills Plan has launched a number of initiatives to make Canada a world-leading centre for innovation, to help create more well-paying jobs, help strengthen and grow the middle class, and make these economic opportunities more inclusive.
Through Canada's Skills and Employment Training Initiatives, Canada provides over $3 billion annually in funding to provinces and territories to support them in providing programs and services that help Canadians get the skills they need to succeed in the labour market.
Canada will invest $2 billion over five years, and $408.2 million ongoing, to create and implement the a Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program. The program will enable Indigenous employment and training service organizations across the country to offer services and training so that First Nations, Métis and Inuit can increase their participation in and thrive in the Canadian economy.
The Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan is being developed in collaboration with provinces and territories to identify actions to position Canada's mining industry for lasting success at home and abroad.
