Today, Kevin Sorenson, Member of Parliament for Crowfoot, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for upgrades to the Stettler Public Library under the Harper Government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
Our Government is focused on what matters to Canadians – creating jobs and growth,” said MP Sorenson. “
Through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Program, our Government continues to support communities across the country.”
The Harper Government’s investment of $250,000 will enhance the programs and services provided by the Stettler Public Library. The funds will support interior upgrades, which include the replacement of doors, flooring, and lighting, while exterior upgrades include the resurfacing and expansion of the parking lot. These improvements will modernize the facility, ensuring its continued service to local residents and enhancing its ability to attract new visitors for years to come.
The residents of the Town of Stettler are pleased the federal government is supporting the Stettler Public Library in the Stettler Recreation Centre to receive funding from the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund,” said his Worship Dick Richards, Mayor of the Town of Stettler. “
Our municipality acts to deliver effective, efficient and affordable services to the community and this CIIF investment will directly benefit individuals and families who live, work, vacation and farm in Stettler.”
The Stettler Public Library is an important hub in our community,” said County of Stettler Reeve Wayne Nixon. “
We are so thrilled to work together with the Town of Stettler to make sure the facility continues to provide valuable services to our residents.”
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
Since 2006, the Harper Government, through WD, has invested in job-creating small and medium-sized businesses, aerospace, marine and defence industries, and supported innovative entrepreneurs in pursuing emerging markets. By continuing to promote new economic opportunities, WD is helping to create jobs, economic growth, and long-term prosperity.
