The Department should continue to work with the western provincial government to negotiate the renewal of the WEPAs for future years. Western provincial governments (Manitoba and Saskatchewan) announced their participation in the WEPA's by including it in their budget estimates for 2008-09 The WEPAs respond appropriately to the needs of western Canada and are seen as an effective and affordable model by stakeholders. The WEPAs are recognized as a means of bringing both the provincial and federal governments to the table on shared priorities. This increases the coordination and cooperation between both levels of government. |
Agree - WD is currently in the process of negotiating the renewal of WEPA's with each of the four western provinces to continue to capitalize on the benefits outlined in the evaluation report. |
